The Authority is a full service song-authoring house producing high quality, game ready downloadable content for the game Rock Band. Based in Boston, Massachusetts and a stone’s throw from Harmonix’s (the creators of Rock Band) headquarters in Cambridge MA, The Authority were part of the original Beta testing team for the Rock Band Network. As part of Harmonix’s Beta Testing team we received extensive training in all aspects of the authoring process from the games developers resulting in The Authority receiving as a “Harmonix Recommended” designation. This select designation attests to the quality of work produced by The Authority.
The Authority Authors are all accomplished gamers and musicians, highly trained in the Authoring process. Our approach is to author with the eye of a gamer, but the soul of a musician. Our motto, “Made By Musicians, For Musicians” highlights our dedication to provide accurate, lifelike, and extremely enjoyable game play, focusing on the nuances of real human performance, for every level from beginner to expert.
The company principals have a combined 50 years experience in the music industry: writing, playing, touring, producing, engineering and mixing a large variety of musical styles and genres. With this experience we can guarantee our audio mixes to be amongst the finest in the industry.
Aside from being the first company to have a song purchased on the Rock Band Network (RBN), The Authority has authored numerous top downloads including the Network’s current number one download, two of the top three and ten of the top thirty sellers so far (as of 9/1/10). Additionally we’ve had 30% of all our songs reformatted for Sony PlayStation 3, Wii and Sony Mobile constituting a large percentage of the songs converted so far.
